Title Barcelona

These are the interior design trends for renovations in Barcelona in 2025

Design trends for interior renovations in Barcelona in 2025 are marked by a blend of modern aesthetics and practical functionality, with a focus on sustainability. Here are some of the most prominent ones:

1. Natural and sustainable materials: The aim is to integrate eco-friendly materials such as wood, bamboo, natural stone, and marble. These materials provide warmth and a connection to nature, in addition to being durable and recyclable.

2. Neutral colors and earth tones: Colors like beige, sand, terracotta, and olive green are trending. They create cozy and balanced environments, promoting calm and serenity within the spaces.

3. Minimalist style: Less is more. Open spaces with few pieces of furniture, clean lines, and an orderly aesthetic remain key in renovations. Functionality takes center stage, eliminating the unnecessary.

4. Smart home systems (Domotics): Home technology is becoming increasingly relevant. Lighting, climate control, and security systems integrated and controlled via mobile devices or voice are being implemented, improving comfort and energy efficiency.

5. Modern industrial aesthetic: The combination of materials like metal and concrete in contrast with warm elements is making a comeback. The industrial style is reinvented with more sophisticated finishes and brighter spaces.

6. Open and multifunctional kitchens: Kitchens are becoming the heart of the home, integrating with the living or dining room. Priority is given to versatile spaces that allow for social interaction, with islands or breakfast bars as a focal point.

7. Natural lighting and large windows: The goal is to maximize the entry of natural light. Large windows, skylights, and sliding glass door systems allow for connecting the interior with the exterior while saving energy.

8. Multifunctional and modular furniture: In smaller spaces, modular and multifunctional furniture is essential. Beds that convert into sofas, folding tables, or shelving with hidden storage optimize the use of space.

These trends reflect the importance of creating functional, aesthetically pleasing, and environmentally friendly homes.

Full apartment renovation in Portal Nou, Barcelona

Historical Restoration and Mediterranean Soul in Portal Nou

Located on the emblematic Carrer del Portal Nou, on the border between El Born and Eixample, we have completed the comprehensive renovation of a home where craftsmanship and original architecture are the stars. The challenge for A. Barcelona Reformas was to rescue the property’s hidden identity: bringing historical ceilings to light and recovering floors that had lost their splendor.

Living Craftsmanship: Recovering the Hydraulic Mosaic

Unlike a conventional renovation, in Portal Nou we have carried out exceptional technical restoration work to save the original floors:

  • Floor Restoration: In many rooms, it was necessary to lift the original hydraulic mosaic tiles one by one to level the floor structure and put them back, preserving the historical pattern.
  • Exposed Wooden Beams: We have removed false ceilings to discover and treat the original wooden beams, returning the home’s stately height and visual warmth.
  • Open Spaces: The new layout opens up the home, allowing light to flow from the facade to the heart of the apartment, connecting tradition with modern comfort.

Balance between Tradition and 21st Century Comfort

Behind the beauty of the recovered materials lies a total technical renovation to ensure an efficient and durable home:

  • Design Installations: Complete renovation of electricity and plumbing, invisibly integrated so as not to interfere with the aesthetics of the noble materials.
  • Invisible Climate Control: High-efficiency systems that guarantee thermal comfort without breaking the visual harmony of the restored ceilings.
  • Custom Finishes: A selection of contemporary materials that contrast and highlight the vivid colors of the recovered hydraulic tiles.

“Restoring in Portal Nou has been an exercise in respect. We haven’t just leveled floors and uncovered beams; we have returned dignity to a historical construction so it can be lived with today’s standards.”

If you have a property with old elements and want to transform it into a modern and efficient home without losing its identity, we are specialists in comprehensive renovations in Sant Andreu. Request your technical study and personalized quote.

What challenges arise when renovating an old single-family house in Sant Andreu?

The main challenge is updating the structure and installations without losing its original character. In the Carrer Servet project, we worked from scratch to integrate modern climate control and energy efficiency systems, while respecting the volume and spaces that make these traditional townhouses unique.

Can open-plan spaces be created in traditional constructions?

Yes. Our specialty is redistributing the interior to gain spaciousness and natural light. In this renovation, we removed old partitions to create a seamless flow between the living room, kitchen, and dining area, achieving a much brighter and more functional home for today’s lifestyle.

How is energy efficiency guaranteed in a house with history?

We apply advanced technical solutions such as thermal insulation for roofs and facades, high-end windows with thermal break, and aerothermal systems. The result is a home that maintains its traditional aesthetic while consuming minimal energy.

Budget of Electricity in Housing

Why update the electrical installation in a home

If you are planning to carry out renovations at home, or if you are thinking about painting or making minor repairs, take the opportunity to change your old electrical installation. At Reformas Barcelona, we know the importance of having an electrical system correctly installed and in compliance with current regulations.

Our specialists will inform you when it comes to renovating and adapting your home’s installation to current standards. Often, the electrical system – especially in second-hand houses or those more than “x” years old – tends to become obsolete and fail to meet regulations. Furthermore, an outdated system is a continuous source of problems and, more importantly: it leaves us exposed to a total lack of safety.

Now you can take advantage of numerous benefits

As this is a renovation within the home to improve safety and energy efficiency, part of its cost is subsidized by the different Autonomous Communities (CCAA) and carries significant tax deductions.

When is the right time to change an electrical installation?

If the system starts to cause problems at different points and repeatedly, the time has come to take action. Not only are we wasting money, but we are also compromising our health due to the high risk of accidents.

This task must be performed exclusively by specialists. At Reformas Barcelona, we advise and guide you on the most suitable solution for your case. Our professionals will take care of minimizing inconveniences and will ensure a job with all guarantees in the shortest possible time.

Remember that there are many advantages and savings when installing a proper electricity system. At Reformas Barcelona, we make sure your home shines with its own light once again. Thank you for your trust.

How much does it costs to renovate an apartment in Barcelona

When you carry out a complete reform of an apartment, you must ensure that you obtain the corresponding planning permission.

The license is awarded by the Barcelona City Council. In this link you can obtain the building the planning permission for apartment renovations that do NOT require a change of interior distribution, that is, in those cases in which walls are NOT thrown away.

When you are not sure about the works to be carried out, the ideal is to contact an architect to carry out the project.

The average price of a flat renovation in Barcelona varies substantially depending on multiple variables.

In the case of a medium-sized apartment, of about 70 m², a comprehensive reform can range between €20,000 and €60,000, depending on whether the interior walls have to be modified, whether the exterior carpentry, the electrical system, whether there is or is not gotelé on the walls, if the house has wooden beams,…, in addition to the quality of the selected materials.

From A. Barcelona Reformas, we will try to help you know in advance how much the reform of your home could cost.

The budget includes a wide series of items, which in the case of renovating a complete 70 m² apartment, would have the following costs:

Permissions and licences:

-Assabentat of works. ONLY for reforms in which walls are not thrown. This permit is free and can be obtained from the Barcelona City Council website at this link

-Building permit when the demolition of partitions is necessary. On average, it can amount to around €3,000-3,500 between the architect’s fees, the visa and the City Council fees.

Demolitions:

This section includes the removal and debris removal of coatings, flooring, kitchen furniture, toilets, wiring, pipes, carpentry, etc. If there is no demolition of partitions, it can be around €1,800 but, if there is demolition of partitions, it can easily amount to about €3,000

Masonry works:

It includes coatings, pavements, formation of new partition walls, plastering of walls, false ceilings, etc. Without partition demolitions, it can cost around €4,000-4,500, but with a change in the layout of the home, it can easily exceed €10,000, depending on the work to be carried out. In addition, you have to add if you have to remove the paper, or the gotelé from the walls, which would mean about €2,400 more.

Plumbing works:

Its cost will depend on whether it is necessary to introduce modifications, if they are partial or, on the contrary, it is a total renovation. The complete change of the plumbing system, including the toilets, the shower screen, the furniture and the taps, ranges between €4,000 and €6,000.

Electrical works:

Its cost will depend, as in the case of plumbing, on the modifications that are required. For a house of about 70m2, the complete renovation usually ranges between €3,500-4,500.

Gas works:

A complete installation including boiler, radiators, embedded piping system, thermostat, etc., is usually around €4,200

Interior carpentry work:

A solid white lacquered door, currently around €400 already installed. If we assume that a 70m2 apartment has 6 doors, the price would be €2,400.

Exterior carpentry work:

Perhaps this is the item that involves the greatest variation, depending on the number of windows, balcony doors and doors, existing in the house, in addition to the multitude of qualities. An average price for a flat with these characteristics would be around €3,500.

Equipment:

The furniture for a kitchen of about 8m² can cost around €4,500-€5,000 and Balay appliances (hood, vitro and oven), about €800.

Painting works:

This is easier to calculate, and represents about €1,500.

Air-conditioning:

The average price of a 3,000 Fridge air conditioner is around €1,000, but if we go for a ducted air conditioning system for cooling the entire house, it can shoot up to €6,000

In conclusion, a price cannot be given for how much it would cost to renovate an apartment in Barcelona, until a professional visits said home and knows both the state of the apartment and the needs of the client, but a prior guiding idea, if can give and, that is what we have tried with this article.

At A. Barcelona Reformas, we also have a price simulator that works very well, but ONLY in cases where the distribution of the home is NOT modified.

Hydraulic imitation floor tiles

This kind of decoration allows the floor of our house have a different image, a vintage touch that gives it a different and more pleasant vision.
